Top 5 Things to Do This Winter in Michigan

Guest Post by Amanda Carter
5-things-to-do
Winter in Detroit is filled with so much uncertainty, and most of the locals brace themselves for the unexpected. With a combination of snow storms and black ice, Detroit area residents can be left thinking that winter in Detroit is not good at all. Besides the obvious 10 things to do on a snow day, such as making a snow mountain, and having a hot chocolate-filled movie night, I have my personal suggestions of the top 10 things to do in Detroit during the winter.

1.  Go to a sports game–
The Detroit Pistons will be joining the other Detroit sports teams,  by playing their home games in the heart of downtown Detroit as early as the start of the 2017-2018 NBA season. Sporting events are great for the entire family and can be a memorable moment. Adding matching jerseys or face paint are great for your social media feed, and will give a happy meaning to those Detroit winter months.

A host of new movies come out each month, and with a long list of movie theaters across metro Detroit, going to the movies is an experience within itself. This past month, movies such as, Trolls, Sing!, and The Secret Life of Pets were box office hits, with all still breaking records to this day. Going to the movies is a great way for families to enjoy themselves while having an awesome time!

Many cities across Michigan offer up some fun ways to enjoy the ice cold weather. In Plymouth, their annual ice festival occurs during a 3-day weekend and is fun for Michiganders of all ages. In Rochester, there is a Fire & Ice festival that includes fireworks, ice skating, skiing, and dog-sledding.

  1. Good effort and I was optimistic enough to read. But your picture and lack of real content makes me think you dont really feel there is much to do in the winter in Detroit. You #2 thing alone looses me. There is so much more to do. Explore restaurants, Fowling, Museums, etc.
